Ask yourself, what makes you come alive?

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." - Dr. Howard Thurman

A blog? Well, in a new place, at a new job, with wayy too much free time, gotta start somewhere right?

Today, someone quoted to me the above words from Dr. Thurman and it resonated deeply. What makes me come alive? In looking for that inspiration, that sense of coming alive, I hope to find different stories, pictures, ideas, people who shape life out of everyday...life. This blog is for me as much, and maybe more so, as it is for you. It is an attempt to remind myself that life is so much more than the 9-5 and the pursuit of career, of happiness, of ____.

And finally, I'd like to point out that Dr. Thurman was a Christian, a theologian! C'mon, that's pretty baller. We are alive in Christ. Amen?! But I think what he's also saying is what do you do with that aliveness. We can't just be alive, we have to harness it. After all,

"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved." Ephesians 2:4-5

Let's go.
